Shapeshifting Through Timelines captures Nicolas Kouri’s transformative journeys, both graphically and spiritually, conjuring alternate realities while emphasizing the potential of human consciousness. The exhibition delves into the infinite possibilities of existence, breaking free from linear and binary characterizations of nature. Kouri’s work, infused with sacred geometry and spiritual insights from plant intelligence, decodes universal patterns and offers a renewed perspective on alternate ways of knowing and creating knowledge.
Central to the show are themes of abundance, healing, and expansion, envisioning worlds beyond industrial modernity while advocating for coexistence and ecological harmony. The Doors of Perception by Aldous Huxley comes to mind; Kouri’s psychedelic compositions traverse aesthetic permutations and spiritual landscapes. Informed by the artist's own explorations of perception, multidimensional grids unfold, with bodies and beings existing as part of a greater universal tapestry. “If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, Infinite.”
Connecting with pre-modern thought, Kouri’s art dissects ancestral Peruvian and Lebanese symbols. His layered and spatial approach sees the body as a divine vessel, brimming with possibilities that resonate throughout spacetime. Through playful and intricate designs, Kouri invites us to consider realities beyond our own and our power to bring them into existence.
